With design and construction of the graceful new Passenger Corridor on a fast-track, it was open for use only 11 months after commencement of design.

PROJECT DETAILS

The Corridor is a new building designed by Muller & Caulfield and HKA Consulting Engineers (prime) that bridges the concourse levels of both existing terminals, allowing airport service and emergency vehicles to pass unhindered below while allowing travelers to catch interconnecting flights located at the different termineals. The corridor interior features a moving walkway, passenger level windows, and space for the Oakland Museum to mount curated art displays.

The exterior skin is comprised of preformed metal panels which were selected to emulate the existing terminal two shells, to allow for a fast erection time, and for their light weight. The ramped end sections are covered with vertical metal siding to be compatible with the Jetway ramps.
