"In a city famous for its successful preservation ventures, this fine
San Francisco Victorian house - designed in the late 19th century - was restored
and remodeled by architects Susan Bragstad and Peters, Clayberg & Caulfield.
Noteworthy in design, the house nevertheless had to be rescued from demolition
and withstand being moved to a new site. It was worth it."

PROJECT
DETAILS
This 1876
Victorian had fallen into disrepair and was in a neighborhood slated for re-development.
The San Francisco Redevelopment Agency sold this structurally sound home on
the condition that it be moved. After relocation 15 blocks away, it was squeezed
onto a 25 foot wide lot and placed on top of a new ground floor and foundation.
The interior and exterior were restored and renovated to last for the next
100 years. It has since been place on the National Register of Historic Places
and won numerous awards, including a National American Institute of Architects
Design Award.
