Approach Through the Oaks
We returned
the flat site to its original downslope through regrading.
This allowed for a multi-stepped building designed to suit the naturally sloped
landscape.
Covered Porch & Swimming Area
Continuous beams inside and outside lead the eye into the garden and hills beyond.
A swimming
pool at the lower point of the site protrudes over a bank to create the
illusion of water meeting sky.
The pool's cascading edge leads the eye to a spectacular view of Mount Diablo.
Gathering Space
Skylights wash the central gathering space with light, while sculptural tilework brings the hues of sky and water into the room.
Family Room
The family room ceiling and skylight carry the view from the interior to the covered terrace and poolside.
